This is a thorough review of the new Bulldawg Jeep LJ Hard Top.  This customer included many pictures and described the great things about the tops and a few things to watch for.  Here is the beginning.  Click the link below for the full review with pictures.

Let me start with a quick disclaimer. I did purchase my hardtop from Bull Dawg MFG. I have not/will not be compensated for any product information I provide. I am merely an LJ fan that hopes to provide objective feedback on a new product that could help extend the life, utility and daily usefulness of our beloved LJs.

I daily drive my LJ to work as well as hit the local ponds just about every day. Well carrying all my junk and three (pricey) fishing poles in a soft top was not the ideal solution. Neither was pulling an ultralight trailer with a kayak to work every day. In late May saw a post in the LJ Owners FB page that started it all. I had found a way to haul my kayak, rods (a work in progress) and make the Jeep more accommodating for the family which includes an 8yr old daughter, 2 yr old Husky and 6 month old Lab. The dogs also go everywhere we can legally take them.

Just wanted you to know my top was delivered about an hour ago. The driver was awesome, even stayed and help me unpack it.  This top is awesome came in great shape was definitely worth waiting on.

Because the way my spare tire is mounted on my TJ, I can't access the back of the Jeep. With the pop up side windows I can now! Great design.. I have already had 2 of my Jeep buddies ask where I got it!!!!

 A while back I decided I wanted to go with a hard top for my (work in progress) diesel swap TJ Wrangler project instead of a soft top. After looking around for a few options for hard tops, I ended up ordering BullDawg's Highlander series Hard Top with a Pioneer Platform system integrated into it.

I went with the BullDawg Hard Top for a few reasons. First it had the dynamic weight capacity I was looking to add to my rig. The goal with my diesel build on my TJ is to have a daily driver that could also be a weekend wheeler and overland rig as well. With a dynamic weight capacity of 600lbs from the integrated Pioneer Rack Platform, it gives me all the weight I need for a roof top tent or gear I might want to bring me when I go wheeling.

I also went with this because I can easily and quickly remove the Pioneer Platform which makes my TJ look like it just has the roof rack attachments like my Jeep Liberty or Jeep Commander has. I really debating going with a Garvin or Gobi roof rack system but I wanted something that would be easy to remove from my TJ so it would look stockish when I wasn't taking it out for a wheeling trip.
The second reason I went with the BullDawg Hard Top was the Discovery pop-up rear windows. I ordered these thinking it would be a neat future, it's turning out to be my favorite feature on my TJ now really fast. I think it's a missed opportunity from Jeep that they didn't incorporate that window into their factory Hard Tops.

The third reason I went with the BullDawg was the colors. I was able to get the Hard Top with a Spice exterior color and what they call an Orange Burst interior color. The fall colors are my favorite range of colors with Orange being my favorite. What I wasn't expecting what how much having a dark interior headliner would help my eyes. I have a light sensitive issue and the darker headliner made a surprising difference on how it affected my eyes.

I'm really happy with my purchase and I did also get a matching set of hard uppers for my half doors as well which I haven't installed yet as I'm still trying to finish building my TJ at the moment. In terms of cost, I don't remember the exact dollar amount, but with the all the options and the hard uppers as well, this entire setup cost me the around the same amount of my money as I bought my TJ for back in 2017, around $5500 bucks.

I talked to a rep about the door uppers. He told me there was a 3-4 week lead time as they didn't have any in stock.  Since I waited 6 weeks from another company before canceling an inferior product, I decided to order them.  2 weeks later I got them and installed myself in 30 minutes for both sides.  These things make a difference!  I was able to have a conversation while driving and not have to shout or have the other person repeat them.  I want to get the Discovery Hardtop next!

 I LOVE the yellow on the inside, and really glad I went with that upgrade.  I'm going to be able to use my Jeep for many more months out of the year, now that I have a hard top.  It looks great, and I also LOVE that you can open the side windows, this has already proven to be VERY useful!

I was already enjoying my top on the way down to have it installed. Every time I saw flapping in the rearview I knew the bulldawg was going to be great. Your people are exceptional, especially Erin. You have a class act from front door to back door. Got to test top in a monsoon on the way home and it doesn't leak. Had a slight bit of wind noise but my 8 year old grand daughter commented on how quiet it was. I thought it was just crosswind buffeting but yesterday I discovered the driverside slider was open about 1/8 in. Amazing what closing a window will do !  Without exaggerating it is only a couple of db louder than my wife's Equinox.

MY name is Jeff H., I purchased a spice hardtop and upper doors back in December
It took me a while to put them on due to reworking my entire stereo system but I finally have them on and it looks great..

I really like the interior coloring and the matching upper doors. I get alot of compliments about the interior coloring,everyone likes it.

The top it is very solid going down the road without any flexing. The fit was perfect with just sliding the top forwards or backward for door clearance (which is with any hardtop).

I just installed my first Bull Dawg Hardtop on my 2001 Jeep Wrangler.  The crate that it was shipped should have told me what the quality of the top would be.  There was no way this top was going to get damaged unless you ran a forklift through the box.   I have ordered a lot of products over the years nobody protects their product as these people do.  Went to put the top on, everything fit like glove.  Their instruction booklet that came with the top was very detailed.  I suggest reading before installation as I did.   I had absolutely had no problems with the installation of the top,  it fit as close as one can make a top fit.  The quality of the top is superb detailed to the max.  So the next trip was to the local car wash (after putting the top on) the top never dripped a drop of water in the jeep, absolutely incredible.     Made my day. So if you are looking for any type of top for a Jeep please remember these people I give them 10+.  From order to completion, I want to thank the owners and all the workers at this Company,  you truly believe in American Made with Pride.

I was a little worried about the price initially (as you can grab a Chinese Smittybilt top for half the price) but I can say now with complete certainty that I’m glad I went with you guys and even more glad you didn’t try to cut corners to make it cheaper like so many other manufacturers tend to do.  I love this thing, not only for the unique Jeep-saving side windows that open so I can toss my baby into her car seat, but for the remarkable build quality and sheer beauty of this top.  I’ve had countless compliments in just the few weeks I’ve had this top from some otherwise pretty harshly critical Jeep enthusiasts.  Literally everyone loves the look of this top and it has saved me from having to sell my beloved Jeep.

My wife and I went to Chattanooga, TN this week to pick up my new Slider TJ Hardtop.  I also added the sunroof (wife's suggestion).  I spent a lot of time investigating hardtops over the course of several weeks.  I read a ton of reviews of every hardtop I could find that would fit my Jeep TJ.  Every review I read had both pros and cons of the tops, EXCEPT for Bull Dawg which only had pros.  I finally called BD and talked to a very nice gentleman at some length about their tops.  He answered all of my questions and was very helpful.  A couple of days later, I got a call from Mike (the owner).  We talked for over 30 minutes about their tops and that call convinced me that I had the right top from the right company.  My wife and I drove to the company to have the top installed.  Mike also gave us a tour of the company and let us see our top before it was put on.  Installation only took about 20 minutes including them removing our old top.  I couldn't be more pleased!  One of the features on this top is the rain rail over the door.  I could not find another top that offered this feature.  On the way home, I compared the noise level before (63db) and the noise level after (56db) at interstate speeds.  That is quite an improvement.  I highly recommend this company and their tops!

I’ve replaced the soft top a couple times, most recently, I had a Trektop NX on it. Well, as it goes, I had a few leaks and decided it was time to invest in a hardtop. What I didn’t realize was how difficult it would be to find a replacement. Through some searching, I found out about BullDawg Hardtops! After quite some time of drooling at the images on their website, I finally decided to pull the trigger on their Discovery Hardtop and upper doors.

Now, for any of you who aren’t familiar with them, I’ve linked their website. I’m also including some pictures of MY jeep with the new top. What I absolutely love about this top is the unique side windows. They OPEN!! This may not be a big deal to anyone, but boy was I tired of having to tumble my front seats forward just to access anything I had in the back. HUGE upgrade in my opinion.

The front upper doors are a great upgrade also. The windows slide open, so no more zippers for this guy!

Thanks to the instructions AND Mike Sherman's willingness to answer questions, installation was a breeze. My brother and I were able to install the top in no time at all. The most time-consuming part was removing the soft top hardware, but coming from the Trektop, that was barely any.

Mike has been great about answering all my questions and concerns, both leading up to the purchase and after.

I highly recommend the Discvery top and upper doors! I'm in the process of putting together a video/write-up, although it's not total necessary with how great their instructions were!

I want you folks to know I LOVE my new upper doors! They were easy to install and look great. In addition to all that, I can now play my radio at half the volume level I used to, and there's no rattles. These upper doors by Bull Dawg are great!

Wife decided she needed a Jeep. I guess her Lincoln just wasn't comfortable enough as a daily driver. Soooooo…we end up at the dealer to test drive a Sahara. Noooooo…she decides the new Golden Eagle Anniversary Model is more her style (long story). Anyway, it came with a spice colored soft top, and she declined to purchase the Mopar hard top, she just didn't like it. After researching available hard tops, and seeing excellent reviews about the Bulldawg hard top on many four-wheel and off road forums, I contacted Mike at Bulldawg. The wife liked THE Bulldawg one piece hard top, and loved the idea of a sunroof.

Mike and I talked about the product, the cost, manufacturing process, and time from manufacture to delivery. Of the many styles and product available for her jeep, she chose basic black with a sunroof. It was delivered within two weeks, with nary a scratch.

You could see the quality out of the box! All the edges were finished and smooth. The top was sturdy and made to last. It cost a few bucks more than other tops on the market, but you get your money's worth. I know a little about products that last, as you can see in the background, 1968 SS/RS Camaro, 50 years old and still running and looking as good as the day it left the factory. Good job GM!

Two friends and I installed the top in less than an hour. Removing the factory soft top took longer than installing the Bulldawg top. After installation, Winter Storm Diego brought two days of heavy rain. A good test for the top as the Jeep sat in the driveway. After two days, the interior was bone dry. So to Mike and the crew at Bulldawg, Great Job! In this day and age it's good to find people who take pride in the quality of their product.

I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love my new Discovery hard top. You were right, installation was super easy. I had one other person help me & we had it done in way less time than it took to install my soft top. It looks great & is so much quieter to drive than with the soft top. My favorite part (besides the camo!) is the side windows. I was reluctant to get a hard top because I thought it would limit my access to the back seat too much. Not a problem with the Discovery top! I'd shopped around for months for a hard top, but didn't find anything I really wanted to commit to. The day I stumbled across the Bulldawg web site & saw the Discovery top -& in camo! - I knew which one I was getting! Can't wait to take it hunting & have easy access to my gun & backpack. Love my new Jeep JK Hardtop. I did a lot of research before purchasing this one and I am very happy with it. They (BullDawg) were wonderful and did everything possible to make the transaction go smooth. I live in Winter Springs, FL and they are located in Hixon, TN (a suburb of Chattanooga). This is a HIGH QUALITY product and utilizes the OEM fasteners, so it looks factory original...but it's truly MUCH BETTER. The 3-piece factory tops are very noisy and a made of plastic. I ordered my new Jeep with a soft top and they even helped me sell the soft top once it was removed. The BullDawg Hardtop is much quieter as it is 1-piece fiberglass.

Great communication and assistance from the guys there, with swift delivery to the United Kingdom and straight from the box you can tell these really are quality items (weighing no more than the steel framed ones).

"Mike, I have a complaint about the hard top...it makes the rest of the jeep look bad! The top was really easy to put on. My wife and I did it in about 10 minutes. You were right, the hardest part was taking all of the hardware from the old top off. The shipping was very quick, the top was expertly packed and it looks great on the jeep. It is warmer, more secure, has drastically reduced wind noise, and looks sharp. I am glad I went with this top instead of the Smittybilt one. It was cheaper, but I like the look of this one a lot more. I just happened to find you on a Google search.
